Jim I: Bio Page
Jim I (aka Jim Ittenbach) is Troubled Spirit’s leader and primary songwriter. He plays Flute, Guitar and Vocals. His storied past has led him on a twisted musical path. He started playing flute in elementary school, but his interest in the flute did not fully bloom until later. In fact, he actually managed to get kicked out of his middle school band. Once he finished high school, friend Gary “The Roach” lent him his copy of Jethro Tull’s Living in the Past. At that point he was hooked. Prior to his discovery of Tull he was already a fan of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors.
He started studying at Baltimore’s Peabody Institute. He become so intrigued by music theory, he began to take private theory lessons. Delving onto to such musical madness as Shoenberg’s 12 tone method.
Over the years he has performed in a wide variety of venues. Performing for audiences that ranged from Queen Elizabeth to bikers, the later of which are his favorite audiences because they really appreciate music.
